Gas demand forecasting and transmission and distribution tariffs (1999)

چکیده
ABARE project 1653 Natural gas demand forecasts are used by regulatory bodies when setting transmission and distribution tariffs. Reviews of current forecasting methodology used by gas companies indicate that the current approaches may be inappropriate for forecasting gas demand. The modeling methodology for gas demand forecasting and the implications of the results for the regulation of transmission and distribution tariffs are examined in this paper.

Different Methods of Long-Term Electric Load Demand Forecasting a Comprehensive Review
Long-term demand forecasting presents the first step in planning and developing future generation, transmission and distribution facilities. One of the primary tasks of an electric utility accurately predicts load demand requirements at all times, especially for long-term. Based on the outcome of such forecasts, utilities coordinate their resources to meet the forecasted demand using a least-co...
متن کاملShort-term and Medium-term Gas Demand Load Forecasting by Neural Networks
The ability of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for estimating the natural gas demand load for the next day and month of the populated cities has shown to be a real concern. As the most applicable network, the ANN with multi-layer back propagation perceptrons is used to approximate functions. Throughout the current work, the daily effective temperature is determined, and then the weather data w...
متن کاملForecasting Natural Gas Demand Using Meteorological Data: Neural Network Method
The need for prediction and patterns of gas consumption especially in the cold seasons is essential for consumption management and policy planning decision making. In residential and commercial uses which account for the bulk of gas consumption in the country the effects of meteorological variables have the highest impact on consumption. In the present research four variables include daily ave...
متن کاملStochastic Unit Commitment in the Presence of Demand Response Program under Uncertainties
In this paper, impacts of various uncertainties such as random outages of generating units and transmission lines, forecasting errors of load demand and wind power, in the presence of Demand response (DR) programs on power generation scheduling are studied. The problem is modelled in the form of a two-stage stochastic unit commitment (UC) which by solving it, the optimal solutions of UC as well...
متن کاملCARESS Working Paper 99–11 Quantity Discounts for Taste–Varying Consumers
When a monopolist asks consumers to choose a particular nonlinear tariff option, consumers do not completely know their type. Their valuations of the good and/or optimal quantity purchases are only fully realized after the optional tariff has been subscribed. In order to characterize the menu of optimal nonlinear tariffs when consumers demands are stochastic, I assume that the distributions of ...
